چکیده

Xanthan gum (XG) is a biopolymer obtained in fermentation and used as rheology control agent aqueous systems stabilizing emulsions suspensions. XG, together with other polysaccharides, can form soft, cohesive composite gels. The carbon source the fermentative process responsible for one-third of production costs, search less expensive sustainable alternatives ongoing. use agricultural residues such corncob highly suggestive due to their abundance. This study aims evaluate derived hemicellulose fractions from alkaline extraction XG trials using four strains Xanthomonas sp. (629, 1078, 254, S6). results indicate that strain 629 provides higher yield (8.37 ± 5.75 g L−1) while medium containing saccharose (1.25%), (3.75%), salts. In this same medium, produces 3% solution, showing apparent viscosity (9298 31 mPa s−1) at shear rate 10 s−1 25 °C. conclusion, proven be promising alternative obtention improving economic viability within biorefinery context. Saccharose must, however, also included medium.

Xanthan gum production by Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris 8004 using cassava starch as carbon source

Cassava starch is a main renewable bio-resource with low price and mass production in Guangxi, China. It was used as carbon source in growing Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris 8004 (Xcc 8004) for xanthan gum production in this study. The xanthan gum yield of gelatinized cassava starch was higher than that of raw cassava starch; the maximal reducing sugar and amylase activity reached 14.30 g...

Evaluation of production of xanthan gum utilizing the corn cob liquor as a carbon source in different strains of Xanthomonas campestres

Background The xanthan gum production has been growing significantly. It is estimated an annual increase by about 5 to 10%. The production needs a carbon source in fermentation media and are commonly employed as glucose or sucrose, which accounts for about 50% of the cost of production. Therefore the use of agro-industrial residues, such as corn cob for the production of xanthan gum becomes sug...

Biodegradation of Xanthan Gum by Bacillus sp.

Strains tentatively identified as Bacillus sp. were isolated from sewage sludge and soil and shown to elaborate extracellular enzymes that degrade the extracellular polysaccharide (xanthan gum, polysaccharide B-1459) of Xanthomonas campestris NRRL B-1459. Enzyme production by one strain was greatly enhanced when the strain was incubated in a mixed culture. Products of degradation were identifie...

Mutagenesis of Xanthomonas campestris and Selection of Strains with Enhanced Xanthan Production

Xanthan gum is a microbial polysaccharide of great commercial importance as it has unusual rheological properties in solution and consequent range of applications. In this study, a series of mutants were isolated from Xanthomonas campestris PTCC 1473 by ethyl methanesulfonate mutagenesis. The polysaccharide yield of one mutant, XC1473E2, was 30% better than that of the parent strain. It also sh...

Stepwise bioprocess for exopolysaccharide production using potato starch as carbon source

Xanthan gum is a biopolymer produced by Xanthomonas sp. XC6. In this study, xanthan gum is produced from potato starch using a stepwise bioprocess design. Potato starch is hydrolyzed using Bacillus sp. having amylase activity and 30.2 g/L reducing sugar was released, while Xanthomonas sp. XC6 can release only 14.5 g/L. Bacillus sp. hydrolyzed potato starch extract was further used as a carbon s...
